There are some scratches on the original picture. I re-touched the boy's face and the background above his head.A definite identification of this photo is not possible at this time. After much discussion, and some comparative sketching by Paul Scheffel, Kim, Paul and I believe that this could be Elisabeth and Christoph Rieckmann and their family in about 1870. Part of the reasoning is that we know of no other family with the same structure (an older boy and 2 little girls) at that time period when tin-types were being made. If we are correct, then the children are Anna on Elisabeth's lap, Henry standing, and Maria on Christoph's lap.
