Carl emigrated with his parents and siblings on Barq Russia, arriving in New York on September 15, 1846, the same ship with the Sasse and Fellwock families.
Louise emigrated with her parents from Hamburg on the Julie, arriving in New York on 25 May 1852.

Only a few months after Louisa's arrival in Dodge County, Wisconsin, she and Carl were married 2 September 1852 at the St Paul Pankow Church.
Carl kept a Family Register in which he recorded his marriage with Louisa, and the births and baptisms of his children.
They moved with their children to Wilberton Twp., Fayette County, Illinois in the 1860's. Carl died there in 1878, leaving Louisa with 6 children at home, the youngest only about 18 months ago.
On 15 January 1880, Louise married
2. Fred (Johann F.) Fellwock whose first wife Wilhelmine Sasse had died leaving him with several young children.

    Augusta was the godmother of Fr. Wm. David Kuebler, and Oskar Otto Oswald Horstmann (son of her sister Maria Schwan Horstmann) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Amherst, Buffalo County, Nebraska.
    Louis was accepted as a new member at Immanuel, Amherst, Nebraska, at the January 1886 meeting. He served several terms as lead singer. Not mentioned in Immanuel records after March 1895. He was godfather for Geo. Art. Luehr, Emma Leske, Eleonore Schukar (dau. of Carl Schukar & Emma Schukar). In Augsburg, Illinois, he performed the baptism of Ed. Bertram in absence of the pastor.
